2017 has been a very busy year for hiring across the Human Resources sector particular across the middle management level. More foreign companies have continued to enter the Thai market (particular from Asia) and this has led to a spike in demand for Talent Acquisition professionals and generalist HR Managers that could provide all rounded HR support and direction.
With more competition entering the market, local Thai conglomerates and banks were looking towards candidates with MNC backgrounds to upskill their HR function. As this function in Thailand matures further, companies are starting to focus on hiring candidates with more specialist experience in Organisational Development and Compensation and Benefits.
At an executive level the market was quiet in the last 6 months of 2016 – this seems to have changed with numerous high profile HRD positions having been recruited in 2017. As the economy continues to grow and mature, HR roles are transforming into strategic business partner positions and we expect the HR market to remain active for the remainder of the year for both specialists and generalists.
