We are looking for an APAC IaaS Windows Engineer on a 12-month extendable contract role.
Role Summary:
This role supports and oversees IaaS initiatives in APAC, ensuring timely project delivery aligned with SLAs and security policies. The candidate will manage daily operations, maintain high service quality, and uphold infrastructure standards across multiple regions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day BAU support for IaaS across Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, and wider APAC.
- Administer and optimize Microsoft Windows Server environments (2012–2022), Active Directory, and clustering (Microsoft and VCS).
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell.
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement DR/BCP strategies.
- Collaborate globally across IT teams, ensuring smooth communication and alignment.
- Ensure compliance with IT governance, change management, and security protocols.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and maintain cross-departmental collaboration.
Required Technical Knowledge & Skills:
- Experience : Minimum 8 years of hands-on technical experience in enterprise infrastructure environments.
Core Windows Server Administration:
- Expert-level knowledge of Windows Server OS (2012 R2, 2016, 2019, 2022), including setup, configuration, and performance tuning.
- Strong experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and DFS.
- Proficient in PowerShell for scripting, automation, and system management.
- Familiar with WSUS and patch management processes.
High Availability & Clustering:
- Skilled in designing, deploying, and managing Microsoft Failover Clusters (e.g., for SQL Server, Hyper-V).
- Capable of troubleshooting cluster issues such as quorum failures, network splits, and resource outages.
- Experience automating cluster operations using PowerShell.
- Proficient in configuring and managing Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) on Windows for high availability.
Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting:
- Strong skills in server performance tuning (CPU, memory, I/O) using tools like PerfMon, Resource Monitor, and Event Viewer.
- Root cause analysis for system issues, storage delays, or network bottlenecks.
- Debugging and refining PowerShell scripts and automation workflows.
Disaster Recovery & Backup:
- Experience designing and implementing backup/recovery strategies for clustered environments.
- Skilled in scripting automated failover/failback processes for both Microsoft and VCS clusters.
- Conducting and documenting disaster recovery drills to ensure compliance with RTO/RPO targets.
BAU & Project Support:
- Proven ability to support both Business-As-Usual (BAU) operations and project-based initiatives, ensuring stability and continuous improvement across infrastructure systems.
