Position: Merchandising Manager

Location: Singapore

We are partnering with a well-loved, iconic lifestyle and reading destination brand to appoint a commercially driven Merchandising Manager for their Stationery division.

About the Role

This is a strategic and hands-on merchandising leadership role responsible for driving category growth, profitability, and product innovation. You will lead end-to-end merchandising strategy, from sourcing and pricing to promotions and inventory optimisation, ensuring a compelling assortment that strengthens market positioning and enhances customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy & Product Sourcing

  • Develop and execute category strategy to maximise sales and gross margin performance.
  • Source and evaluate new, trend-relevant products to enhance assortment competitiveness.
  • Optimise product mix across physical stores and online channels.
  • Lead pricing strategy and cost negotiations to drive sustainable margin growth.

Supplier & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and manage strategic supplier partnerships to secure favourable trading terms.
  • Oversee negotiations, promotional planning, and supply continuity.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Retail Operations, VM, and Logistics teams.

Inventory & Merchandising Excellence

  • Drive inventory planning to optimise stock turnover and reduce holding costs.
  • Develop action plans for slow-moving stock while ensuring availability of key sellers.
  • Conduct market research and store visits to ensure merchandising standards and competitive positioning.

Sales & Financial Performance

  • Own category budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking.
  • Analyse sales trends and market intelligence to identify growth opportunities.
  • Implement initiatives to enhance profitability and sales productivity.

Promotional & Campaign Leadership

  • Lead seasonal campaigns, product launches, and key retail events (e.g., Back-to-School).
  • Support new store openings, renovations, and promotional roadshows.
  • Drive strategic campaigns to increase category visibility and revenue.

Governance & Administration

  • Oversee purchase orders, pricing updates, and supplier documentation accuracy.
  • Ensure timely reporting and system integrity for merchandising operations.

Ideal Profile

  • Proven experience in merchandising, buying, or category management within retail or consumer goods.
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated success in margin and sales growth.
  • Confident negotiator with strong supplier management capabilities.
  • Analytical, data-driven, and highly organised.
  • Passionate about retail trends and customer engagement.
