Senior Data Engineer – Insurance - $50-75k P/M (Cloud / Azure / Databricks)

Location: Hong Kong
6-Month Contract (High Likelihood of Extension)

A leading financial services organisation is hiring multiple Senior Data Engineers to support a large-scale Finance transformation programme.

This is a forward-deployed, hands-on engineering role working directly with Finance stakeholders to build modern, production-grade data platforms powering forecasting, reporting, analytics, and AI use cases.

The Role

You will design, build, and operate scalable finance data pipelines and data products across core domains including ledger, actuarial, planning, capital, investment, and regulatory reporting.

This is not a pure back-end role — you will act as a technical partner to Finance SMEs, translating business logic into robust engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain production-grade data pipelines (ELT/ETL)
• Deliver end-to-end engineering: ingestion, modelling, validation, orchestration, CI/CD, and deployment
• Develop reusable data models and semantic layers for forecasting, scenario modelling, analytics, and AI
• Ensure audit-ready, governed, high-quality finance datasets
• Collaborate with AI engineers and data scientists on advanced analytics and GenAI initiatives
• Standardise data patterns, toolkits, and documentation for cross-team reuse
• Act as a primary engineering contact for finance data platform issues

What We’re Looking For

Core Experience

• 5+ years in Data Engineering or Data Platform development within financial services
• Strong finance data knowledge (ledger, actuarial outputs, valuation, planning, capital, forecasting)
• Hands-on cloud experience — preferably Azure
• Strong skills in SQL and Python
• Experience with Spark / Databricks
• Experience building governed, auditable, finance-grade datasets
• CI/CD and orchestration experience

Highly Desirable

• Experience ingesting actuarial systems or finance platforms (GL, sub-ledger, planning tools)
• Exposure to ML / GenAI / RAG-ready datasets
• Experience working in a forward-deployed or business-partnering model
• Familiarity with tools such as Databricks, Power BI, ERP systems, Anaplan, or similar enterprise platforms
