Senior Engineering Lead

Our client is a global consulting and engineering organization partnering with large enterprise institutions on complex, mission-critical digital platforms. This role sits within a senior engineering leadership capacity, leading cross-functional software teams delivering large-scale systems in a fast-moving and ambiguous environment. The position requires a strong blend of technical judgment, engineering leadership, and stakeholder management, with accountability for architectural direction, delivery quality, and client outcomes across multiple workstreams.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical and engineering leadership across multiple delivery teams, acting as the senior authority on solution design, architectural decisions, and engineering standards.
• Own end-to-end solution architecture for complex software platforms, ensuring scalability, resilience, security, and long-term maintainability.
• Serve as the primary technical counterpart to senior client stakeholders, challenging requirements where necessary and proposing pragmatic, value-driven alternatives.
• Guide and mentor senior engineers and technical leads, setting coding principles, design patterns, and quality benchmarks across teams.
• Translate ambiguous business needs into clear technical direction, balancing delivery timelines, engineering quality, and operational constraints.
• Oversee system modernization initiatives, including platform upgrades, cloud adoption, and architectural refactoring.
• Collaborate closely with delivery, product, and project leadership to manage dependencies, risks, and technical trade-offs throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 15 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong foundation in backend and full-stack development within enterprise environments.
• Proven experience in senior technical leadership roles such as Lead Architect, Principal Engineer, or Engineering Manager within consulting, systems integration, or complex product organizations.
• Strong expertise in modern software architecture using technologies such as .NET and Python, with solid understanding of frontend frameworks and cloud-native design.
• Hands-on experience working with cloud platforms, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g. Terraform or equivalents).
• Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams without direct line authority, influencing through technical credibility and sound judgment.
• Track record of operating effectively in complex, regulated, or high-stake environments with multiple senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to challenge assumptions, manage conflict constructively, and represent engineering perspectives at senior levels.
• Experience working within agile or scaled agile delivery models is preferred.
